Expo regular, AB Dynamics has broken ground on a new factory near its existing base in Bradford-on-Avon, UK. Due to open next year, the facility is the long-awaited fruit of the company’s IPO back in 2013. Archaeological surveys had to be carried out on the Wiltshire site, where evidence of a 5,000-year-old settlement and an old pottery factory was uncovered!
The new building will enable AB Dynamics to bring all of its R&D and production operations back under one roof, having been split across the original factory and leased buildings – which expanded production space by 70% – for the past two years. Sales are now split 65% for the robots and other track testing equipment, and 35% for the chassis testing equipment. In the latter category, five examples of the upgraded SPMM 5000 K&C machines have now been delivered to customers in the UK (MIRA, pictured), China, Japan and Brazil. German OEMs are the next target for the SPMMs, reports CEO, Tim Rogers, who also revealed that the company has secured a £2.3m Regional Growth Fund grant for a new R&D program related to lab testing technology.
AB Dynamics is exhibiting on booth 1346 at Automotive Testing Expo 2015 Europe, which continues at Messe Stuttgart, Germany, until Thursday 18th June.
