A new 25,600ft² building currently being constructed at the FEV North America site in Auburn Hills, Michigan, will house a state-of-the-art lab and vehicle emissions dynamometer as well as additional office space and lab facilities.
The facility has cost an investment of around US$27m. To help with funding, the company has received a performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program.
When complete, approximately 250 new jobs will be created at the facility, increasing the total number of employees at the site to around 750. Completion of the Vehicle Test Center is expected by April 2018.
Patrick Hupperich, president and CEO of FEV North America, said, “From its founding, FEV has built its reputation by providing state-of-the-art facilities needed to support product developments. The addition of the vehicle emissions chassis dyno represents our effort to provide a complete, one-stop-shop to powertrain and vehicle development, and keeps us in step in meeting customers’ needs.”
