Work is currently underway at Gordon Murray Automotive’s site in Surrey in the UK preparing its first prototype for testing.
Powertrain development is already underway using a mule chassis (based on an Ultima track car), but according to the company, the first prototype T.50 is being built up following the delivery of the XP1 monocoque. Initial testing will focus on ride and handling development, before a winter testing program commences in Sweden, centered on the electronic stability systems.
There will be a total of 11 prototypes constructed, with two dedicated to crash testing duties. According to technical director Frank Coppuck, the build of XP1 will be completed around a month from now.
