The caliTEST-B, Kistler’s new test device, is a compact and cost-effective alternative to the established caliTEST calibration device for torque wrenches. It enables the calibration of torque wrenches or tools with an effective length of up to 1,320mm according to DIN EN ISO 6789. The focus in development of the test device was on user-friendliness and flexibility, making it suitable for quick and easy calibration of screwdriver-shaped torque tools.
Standards like DIN EN ISO 6789 regulate the testing of fasteners and associated tools to ensure the safety of bolted connections in various applications such as airplanes, cars or steel constructions. Kistler’s caliTEST has been a popular choice for larger companies with extensive torque tools and calibration laboratories. However, for medium-size companies or those with fewer tools, the investment in such a calibration device might not be justified. The caliTEST-B addresses this as it is a smaller and more economical version that provides reliable calibrations in the range from 2.5Nm to 500Nm (expandable to 0.2Nm to 1,000Nm). It also enables tool-related machine capability testing per VDI/VDE 2645.
Similar to the larger calibration device, the caliTEST-B includes a mounting device, a drive unit with torque sensor, measuring and control electronics and an evaluation system. Unlike the existing caliTEST, the sensors in the caliTEST-B can be exchanged for different torque ranges, providing flexibility. Additional options include a holder for screwdriver-shaped torque wrenches, a barcode reader, and a label printer for efficient tool recording and labeling.
To ensure process reliability, Kistler uses the CEUS software for caliTEST-B calibration. This web-based program enables users to integrate specific limit values, specifications and tolerances into the evaluation, streamlining the measurement process. The program guides users through the calibration steps, generating an individual measurement history for each tool. CEUS automatically saves test reports for quick access. Kistler also offers user training courses to facilitate efficient and standards-compliant calibration processes.
