VI-grade has announced a 100% acquisition of the outstanding shares of Concurrent Real-Time, a provider of high-performance, real-time computational hardware and software solutions.
The shares were purchased from Boston-based PE firm Battery Ventures, for a purchase consideration of US$166.7m in cash, subject to customary closing conditions. The transaction comes as part of VI-grade’s strategy to enhance and grow the company’s simulator platform businesses and fully integrate hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) technology.
Concurrent Real-Time is based in Pompano Beach, Florida, and is a developer and supplier of hard real-time operating systems, software and hardware used to deliver simulation and control platforms to an array of mission-critical automotive and aerospace projects. Due to this, Concurrent Real-Time shares some end markets with VI-grade in which customers need low-latency real-time solutions that utilize hardware-in-the-loop (HiL), software-in-the-loop (SiL), and people-in-the-loop (PiL).
The acquisition of the business will strengthen VI-grade’s market position in the simulation software and simulator solution sector, by enhancing dynamic performance and growing the company’s product portfolio while improving market reach and delivery capability.
Furthermore, the combination will see the creation of a virtual simulation and testing company of scale in the high-growth R&D markets within automotive, aerospace and defense. At present, Concurrent Real-Time has around 115 employees based in the USA, China, Japan and Europe.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in Q2 pending regulatory review and approvals.
