Dassault Systèmes and BMW Group have formed a partnership to develop BMW’s future engineering platform featuring Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. BMW employees will use the platform to accelerate the development of all vehicles.
Dassault Systèmes says the platform’s virtual twin functionality is customizable for various model variants, providing real-time access to integrated data. This will reportedly enhance the reusability of components and enable teams to navigate the complexities associated with car variability.
With 3DEXPERIENCE, BMW’s engineering disciplines will use a virtual twin of a vehicle that can be configured for the variants of each model using real-time data. BMW can also migrate data from its existing IT solutions and extend its engineering platform to other disciplines such as modeling and simulation.
“We will only optimize our engineering process if we think digital, work connected and rely on an integrated data. For the BMW Group the 3DEXPERIENCE platform will support this approach and help to reach a higher level of quality in our processes,” said Julien Hohenstein, VP of processes, digitalization, governance idea to offer in BMW’s R&D division.
Laurence Montanari, VP of transportation and mobility industry at Dassault Systèmes, added, “With the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, BMW Group can rethink its engineering development process to deliver the most personalized and sustainable experiences to its customers.”
