GRAS Sound & Vibration has released a range of acoustic sensors for automotive NVH.
GRAS, a developer of automotive acoustic sensors, has launched the 147AX CCP rugged pressure microphone for engine noise testing and the 147EB CCP X-rugged microphone for wheelhouse brake noise testing. They join the versatile 146AE CCP free-field microphone, giving GRAS a comprehensive range of microphones for all automotive NVH applications.
The new microphones were developed in close collaboration with global OEMs. The 147AX CCP rugged pressure microphone was created with Volvo Cars in Sweden. It is a surface microphone optimized for hot and cold engine noise testing, enabling more efficient testing and repeatable measurements. Furthermore, it introduces a revolutionizing form factor, which together with a unique mounting system and new measurement methods ensures accurate and reliable data.
The 147EB CCP X-rugged microphone set is an extremely robust microphone specially designed and optimized for on-road brake noise testing. The microphone has a three-layer protection of the diaphragm and has been tested with Volkswagen in Germany, where it has undergone more than 10,000 miles (16,000km) of on-road testing on all surfaces and in all weather conditions.
According to product manager Jan Hansen, “GRAS has come up with new products targeted at specific applications that revolutionize existing test methods and considerably save time rigging up. We have tried to address the most common challenges as experienced by industry professionals within each application area by way of mapping these from start to finish”.
