Fiat Chrysler Group brand Jeep and light tactical vehicle manufacturer AM General revealed a new military concept truck at the Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of US Army (AUSA).
The Jeep Gladiator Extreme Miltary-Grade Truck (XMT) is the first product from the collaboration between the two companies, which used the 2020MY Jeep Gladiator as a starting point due to its towing capacity of 3,470kg (7,650 lb). AM General is modifying the vehicle with the addition of custom-built and commercially available military-specification parts, adding to its off-road ability, as well as equipping it for tactical communications and operations. The XMT can also be converted for mission-specific duties such as personnel carrier, or command and control, with AM General’s enhanced tactical kit package that is already available on the Humvee.
“We are extremely excited to partner with FCA and introduce the Jeep Gladiator Extreme Military-Grade Truck at AUSA. This new venture gives us an opportunity to showcase our expertise in light tactical vehicles and help FCA maximize the Gladiator’s global reach and potentially enter new military markets,” said AM general president and CEO, Andy Hove.
