Automotive Testing Expo North America 2024 is North America’s leading global event for automotive development, testing and validation. With a new workshop on implementing ODD to support autonomous vehicle development, the Innovation Showcase, The Future of Automotive Testing Conference and 260+ exhibitors, the event has more content and insight than ever before to help advance and accelerate development programs, enhance product quality and eliminate recalls.
Here are a few Day 1 highlights and what to look forward to on Day 2…
Operational Design Domain Workshop
Today’s one-day practical workshop clarified the scope of the operational design domain (ODD). Workshop instructor Edward Schwalb from Schwalb Consulting said, “The ODD is regarded as a critical component for type approval in Europe and required for regulatory approval in the US, and thus there is a need to clarify the role of the ODD and how it is to be developed and used. The key learnings/takeaways that I hope the workshop participants gained is that the ODD is a central knowledge hub aligning all internal and external stakeholders.”
Innovation Showcase: The future of DAQ systems
At the Innovation Showcase, Nils Roettger, CTO at Slovenia-based openDAQ, talked about the company’s Software Development Kit (SDK), how it has advanced, the standards that it supports and how it can be used to streamline the test and measurement process.
dSPACE demos numerous innovations
Visitors to dSPACE’s booth have been finding out about the company’s data-driven development toolchain, ECU software validation in the cloud, new cybersecurity test automation capabilities and more. Thorsten Oppermann, the company’s director of sales and marketing, told us that, “dSPACE has been exhibiting at Automotive Testing Expo North America for over 17 years. We are looking forward to meeting up with our current customers, new startup companies and the university sector.” Find out more at Booth 3000.
Intrepid displays tools to support the new architecture of software-defined vehicles
Intrepid Control Systems is at the expo to talk to visitors about SDV electrical architecture and the challenges of testing and fleet logging. Colt Correa, COO & VP, said, “Software-defined vehicles means different things to different people. For me as part of the electronics industry it’s the next progression of what’s been happening for the last 30 years. The software inside the vehicle is becoming more of a distinguishing factor as far as DNA goes. Companies are able to use SDV as an opportunity to generate revenue after the sale.” Meet the team at Booth 9000.
MTS unveils new, hybrid approach to hydraulic power generation
A leading global supplier of test and simulation systems, MTS is showing visitors its hybrid MTS SilentFlo 525 HPU, an impactful innovation that conserves energy, decarbonizes and extends lifecycles while enhancing test lab productivity and lowering long-term cost of operations. Jim Hennen, market and business development manager, explained that the company is “committed to helping customers address global challenges and contribute to creating a better, safer, more sustainable world”. Meet MTS at Booth 2000.

Dewesoft showcases new DC-CT current transducers, autonomous data acquisition and more
This year Dewesoft is showing a range of high-precision development tools, from autonomous data acquisition to plug-and-play high-precision transducers and measurement software with openDAQ. The company’s CMO, Christie Nowicki, enthused, “Data acquisition is the most valuable asset for research and development. It adds confirmation to assumptions or inspiration to review designs. Without DAQ we would be guessing, assuming or, in the worst case, ignoring what really happens when our designs are used.” Speak to the team at Booth 13012.
GeneSys shows its smallest IMU assisted by GNSS yet
Visitors to the GeneSys booth have been finding out more about ADMA-Micro and the company’s Laurent Chalard has been extolling its benefits: “Its small footprint but high performance combined with ease of use and unique features make it the ideal tool for numerous applications, including ADAS testing in target vehicles or VRUs.” Chalard also revealed that GeneSys Inc. has recently opened a facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan: “We are now closer than ever to our US customers and provide first-class service, rentals and application support.” Find out more at Booth 14016.
