Three more companies have confirmed their participation at the new Live Demo Day, which takes place at the American Center for Mobility (ACM), on Friday October 25, effectively extending the Automotive Testing Expo in Novi by a further day.
New Eagle, Humanetics and S-E-A are the most recent additions to the program, which will see the latest AV and ADAS testing technology put through its paces ‘live’ at ACM’s extensive Willow Run proving grounds. They join AB Dynamics, AVL, Racelogic, Moshon Data, Keysight and Schaeffler Group.
The Live Demo day provides visitors to Autonomous Vehicle Technology Expo, Automotive Testing Expo and Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium with the perfect opportunity to see some of the best new technologies in action, while learning what challenges still remain on the road to full autonomy.
New Eagle will demonstrate its drive-by-wire (DBW) kits on a Chrysler Pacifica and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Designed for fleet deployment with safety at the forefront, these kits are a complete hardware and software solution that give autonomous systems seamless control of throttle, brake, steering, shifting and body controls on production vehicles using OEM production hardware.
The New Eagle DBW kits will enable an autonomous system builder to safely and quickly develop perception and path planning algorithms. Key features include common control interfaces across vehicle platforms, advanced control features (e.g. speed and curvature control), active safety and fault monitoring.
Humanetics and S-E-A will jointly demonstrate a range of ADAS evaluation and AV development tools. This includes automated test drivers, vision detection systems and robots that are so flat they can be run over by the test car without damage to either. Live demonstrations will extend beyond automated emergency braking tests to show how complex scenarios can be created with strikeable targets (GVTs, VRUs, etc) for AV and ADAS development.
Other highlights of the day include Racelogic’s VBOX Indoor Positioning System (VIPS), which provides a highly accurate way of measuring speed, position and attitude (pitch/roll/yaw) in areas where GPS is not available – such as inside the ACM’s curved tunnel. AB Dynamics will demonstrate its range of pilotable and guided targets, as well as its drive-by-wire system. Keysight will demonstrate a number of validation technologies, including how to test a vehicle’s connectivity in a repeatable environment.
The ACM is just a half-hour drive from the Novi Suburban Collection Showplace, and only 20 minutes from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.
