Dekra is at Automotive Testing Expo Europe to offer its expertise in cybersecurity, which is growing in importance as the digitalization of vehicles gathers momentum. Cybersecurity development impacts the V cycle, and in a talk on the Technology Presentation Stage today, Krishan Feigl, managing director of Dekra Digital, explored the effect of cybersecurity on the right side of the model (the verification and validation part). Feigl highlighted some cybersecurity-related test methods to put this into context.
The MD also presented Dekra Digital’s cybersecurity assessment solution that scrutinizes both the organizational layer and also the product-related element. “This is important because only the combination of the two will lead to a scenario in which a systematic approach – as required by regulation – can be assumed. That is, having an organization in place to develop and test cybersecure products and ensuring the cybersecurity resiliency of individual products,” explained Feigl.
One of the main challenges of building the cybersecurity system was integrating organizational knowledge of processes, roles and responsibilities – which is needed to analyze the organizational layer – with the product (component, system or vehicle)-related subject matter expertise into one package that can also deliver one set of services for developers. Feigl said, “We have succeeded in [meeting] this challenge by establishing our Cyber Security Hub, which can deliver and provide expertise likewise for both previously mentioned layers that are mandated by the corresponding regulation.”
