Manufacturer of 3D metal printers Nikon SLM Solutions, headquartered in Lübeck, Germany, has announced the formation of a dedicated engineering team in the USA to bolster support and collaboration with US customers. This initiative includes the appointment of Nneji Kemakolam as vice president of engineering for the USA, operating from Nikon SLM’s new headquarters in Long Beach, California.
The creation of the USA-based engineering team is intended to improve service and innovation tailored to the specific needs of the North American market. Kemakolam, who assumed his role in April, brings a strong background in engineering, product development and additive manufacturing. He now leads North American engineering efforts, focusing on process enhancements, product design and launches.
“Our investment in our engineering capabilities demonstrates our commitment to driving innovation and enhancing customer satisfaction,” said Sam O’Leary, CEO of Nikon SLM Solutions. “With Nneji leading our North American efforts, we are confident in our ability to deliver world-class products and solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
According to Nikon, the responsibilities of the new team include enhancing collaboration with US customers by aligning engineering efforts with organizational goals and objectives. The team will also focus on growing the North American engineering organization to ensure the execution of key product development activities.
“Nikon SLM Solutions is dedicated to empowering our customers in shaping the future of manufacturing,” added Kemakolam. “Our new team will enable us to respond more swiftly to customer needs, drive technological advancements and strengthen our position as a leader in the additive manufacturing industry.”
The team will also serve as the primary point of contact for local engineering personnel and build relationships with local universities and research institutes, in order to access top talent, explore external research projects and evaluate emerging technologies in partnership with major US OEMs.
