Automotive test solution supplier AB Dynamics has launched its new GTC Remote, a hand-held device for its of GST and LaunchPad test platforms, which enables test operators to control single ADAS platforms without the requirement for a static base station.
The GTC Remote helps to streamline ADAS testing and is particularly suited for setting up VRU ADAS tests where only one target is required, such as the CPFA (Car-to-Pedestrian Farside Adult), CPTA (Car-to-Pedestrian Turning Adult) and CPRA (Car-to-Pedestrian Reverse Adult) scenarios. By reducing the need for hardware components, the remote helps the logistics of test setup so that engineers and technicians can spend more track time testing.
“Although ADAS testing can be complex, many scenarios involve just a single ADAS target,” said Jack Hines, project engineer at AB Dynamics. “Using our new GTC Remote helps technicians to set up these relatively simple scenarios much more quickly so that track time can be used for testing, rather than setting-up equipment.”
The new controller consolidates the individual components of a typical static base station setup into a highly portable handheld unit, including precise analog stick controls, radio, safety controller and base station software. Its portability, combined with simplified software workflows, significantly reduces the amount of time required to get test scenarios up and running.
A user-friendly design, featuring an ergonomic and ruggedized weight-balanced housing, incorporates a 7in color touchscreen, a robust processor, and a long-lasting battery, providing ample power for a typical full day of testing.
For communication with ADAS platforms, the GTC Remote offers interchangeable radios compatible with AB Dynamics’ existing radio options, such as the latest TrackFi PowerMesh, and other communication infrastructure.
The GTC Remote comes equipped with AB Dynamics’ safety system, including fail-safe monitoring of communication, and has undergone certification and approval processes for CE, FCC and UKCA standards, guaranteeing compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
