The system designed for ADAS and autonomous vehicle testing enables engineers to add as much hardware- or software-in-the-loop as they wish
At this year’s Automotive Testing Expo Europe, Cruden officially launched its latest simulator designed for ADAS and autonomous vehicle testing. The highly immersive system enables critical testing and evaluation of driver interactions.
Development engineer, Jelle van Doornik, said at the event last month, “The simulator includes a display that shows warnings, and a touchscreen enabling the driver to generate input and switch on different systems.
“All these models can be customized by engineers in Matlab Simulink. This way of working supports the development of control systems up to level 5 autonomous driving.
“For realistic simulation of traffic, TASS Prescan and MSC Software’s Virtual Test Drive have been carefully integrated into the simulator.
“One of the benefits here is that these packages have sensor simulation, which can be integrated with the Cruden ADAS simulator, meaning you can simulate radar sensors in those packages, move them to our software and drive on our simulator. In theory, you could even put the real sensors on that.
“Basically engineers can add as much hardware- or software-in-the-loop as they wish that’s a really powerful part of this ADAS simulator.”
Cruden’s ADAS-406-F3 driver-in-the-loop simulator was well received at the expo and the company expects to secure the first contracts in the coming months.
