To reduce time to market for new brake pads, TMD Friction has invested €1.5m (US$1.6m) in a new test bench to comply with the latest Euro 7 regulations.
The new emissions dyno will work with the brake manufacturer’s global suite of 36 dynamometers within the R&D department to measure brake emissions according to GTR24 requirements. The test bench will be used for new OE homologations as well as development of friction formulations for both OE and aftermarket products.
The machinery will enable TMD Friction to test its products in-house using the same equipment as independent testing agencies instead of waiting for availability externally, which could lead to delays.
With an average investment of €30m (US$31.6m) in R&D each year, all research, development and testing are carried out in-house to maintain quality assurance and to ensure the customers benefit from the latest, most advanced and highest quality parts.
Christian Stolz, vice president R&D OE at TMD Friction, said, “TMD Friction’s braking products are renowned globally for premium quality, safety and comfort. This is thanks to our continuous investment into R&D, where we work tirelessly to engineer friction formulations to the specific vehicle’s braking system. This latest investment into emissions testing equipment will ensure we continue to deliver the best products and solutions for our customers worldwide.”
