Next week’s Automotive Testing Expo North America 2023 provides the automotive testing and validation community with an unrivaled opportunity to source the best new solutions from the world’s leading suppliers, while networking with the testing sector’s largest gathering of technicians, engineers and technology specialists.
The show, which once again takes place at the Suburban Showplace Collection in Novi, Michigan, on October 24-26, is completely free to attend – if you haven’t already, get your free FastTrack entry code here! Exhibition entry provides visitors with immediate access to over 290 vehicle testing and validation-relevant exhibitors displaying and demonstrating the very latest technologies in electric and hybrid powertrain testing, battery and range testing, ADAS/AV testing, materials testing, engine testing, stress and durability testing, validation, simulation, NVH, lifecycle testing, emissions testing, data capture, AI, tire testing and more.
Here are some highlights to look forward to:
Noffz will introduce its new ITD 1024 G3 device – the Infotainment Test Device for A2B audio bus technology. The product is equipped with the latest AD2433 chip and provides seamless integration with users’ favorite testing platforms. ITD 1024 allows clients to perform A2B bus discovery, stream digital audio data in both directions, access low-level registers and locate faults. It has a robust design and offers rich functionality and quick test times.
This year at the expo, DRI will be previewing its new child pedestrian target, the latest addition to its ADAS target range. It features the same industry-leading design as its Soft Pedestrian 360 adult counterpart but in a child form. Key features include its active articulation system, which enables naturalistic movement, and the ability to synchronize gait with platform speed. Minimizing the potential for vehicle damage has been central to the design of the child pedestrian target, which has been achieved through the use of modular, low-mass components. The target’s limbs, head and mounting pole are attached to the torso via foam blocks so that when these components separate on impact, there are no exposed hard points.
Ontario Tech University will be at the show discussing the capabilities of its ACE Climatic Wind Tunnel. With a focus on EV and charger testing, ACE’s state-of-the-art facilities provide a robust platform for advancing EV technologies. From measuring aerodynamic forces to underbody thermal management, ACE’s wind tunnel ensures optimal vehicle performance in terms of efficiency and cooling. With the ability to test in rain, snow, ice, sun and fog, ACE simulates diverse weather scenarios to evaluate vehicle performance and safety.
To effectively test ADAS, its hardware and software must be put through its paces on a proving ground. Such testing includes articulated adult and child VRU targets by expo exhibitor Messring, designed to meet the stringent requirements of NCAP specifications, ACEA guidelines and the ISO 19206-2 standard. The emergence of in-vehicle child presence detection (CPD) systems is also demanding cutting-edge test equipment – especially as Euro NCAP will require such sensing functionality to achieve a perfect rating from 2025 onward. Messring will present its newborn CPD dummy, which was developed in collaboration with industry partners and NCAP Labs. It features an adjustable breathing rate and amplitude, enabling precise testing and evaluation of CPD technologies.
There’s also a free-to-attend Technology Presentation Stage, featuring speakers from Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. Furthermore, Automotive Testing Expo will take place alongside Automotive Interiors Expo North America 2023, adding an extra layer of additional interiors technology-relevant exhibitors and expertise.
