To strengthen its foundation in North America, German safety and testing specialist Messring has set up a US arm. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Messring Inc. will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, supporting all activities in the USA and Canada.
Former Calspan man Gerald Goupil (above left) has been appointed CEO to head up the new Messring subsidiary. He will use his rich experience in the crash test arena, which includes many years as senior director – vehicle crash testing at Calspan Corporation, to help the supplier grow.
“For many years, we have successfully completed numerous projects for our North American customer base and wish to continue to grow our business there. To do this we feel that a dedicated subsidiary with its sole focus on this region is the best solution,” said Dierk Arp (above right), managing director of Messring’s German branch.
“With the acquisition of Gerald Goupil, we have gained an individual with industry connections and hands-on, practical experience who is well equipped to assist customers in their quest for additional capacity, capabilities and efficiency improvements through the implementation of practical and cost-effective solutions.”
Goupil’s brief as CEO of Messring in the USA is to lead the development of more bespoke solutions for the EV market and establish a US warehouse for immediate order fulfillment. From this new base, Messring will be able to provide service and technical training, and in the future, potentially manufacturing.
Goupil commented, “I am thrilled to take on this new challenge and responsibility as CEO of Messring Inc. Messring has an impressive and talented team of experts, an established global customer base, a strong brand, and an enviable reputation as a leader in providing the highest quality and most dependable passive and active safety testing equipment, systems and facilities around the world.”
