Japanese engineering firm Progress Technologies Group has acquired a DiM250 dynamic driving simulator from VI-grade to expand its technical services for design and development projects for major OEMs in Japan.
An extended version of VI-grade’s DiM250 dynamic driving simulator will be installed at Progress Technologies Group’s new engineering site. It is based on the same patented architecture as VI-grade’s DiM250 model but with extended workspace due to longer tripod actuators.
By acquiring the advanced driving simulator, Progress Technologies will be able to provide high-level virtual testing services to Japanese OEMs and suppliers. The group aims to enhance development efficiency and product quality, and reduce development time using digital and virtual technologies.
“The driving simulator allows us to not only refine conventional automobile driving skills such as running, stopping and turning but also to safely perform functional verification of automatic driving systems and advanced safety control systems,” said Nakayama Gakuto, CEO of Progress Technologies Group. “On the other hand, the driving simulator is valuable testing equipment that requires a high level of technical expertise to master.
