Porsche Engineering Group GmbH, a subsidary of Porsche AG headquartered in Weissach, Germany (pictured), is opening a new facility in Shanghai where it will concentrate on core competencies of overall vehicle development and system development. Initially, a team of six engineers will be based there, all of whom have a distinctive knowledge of the Asian markets.
One important component of Porsche’s engagement in the Far East is the collaboration with Tongji University in Shanghai, which was established in June 2014. Following the example of a cooperation between the Prague location and the technical university there, the collaboration in Shanghai will also strive for a fruitful exchange in terms of science, research, teaching, testing facilities and practical experience.
“For more than 20 years our specialists have been offering engineering services for Chinese companies,” said Wolfgang Hatz, member of the executive board – research and development of Porsche AG and chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee of Porsche Engineering. “With this new office in Shanghai Porsche Engineering will expand and intensify successful business relationships and is able to fulfil regional requirements even better.”
