Poppe + Potthof has returned to Automotive Testing Expo Europe with what it claims is a unique new test rig. The Pressure Pulsation Test Bench is designed to move the thermal- and pressure-cycling tests of new, weight-saving plastic components, such as engine intake manifolds, from the road to the lab.
The new rig uses drive files to simulate real-world testing. At its heart is a Weiss climate chamber that enables the part on test to be exposed to temperatures from -72°C to +180°C and humidity up to 98%. The range of pressure adjustment is also wide, including testing in vacuum conditions.
In April, Poppe + Potthof moved into an expanded, 1,300m2 R&D and production facility in Nordhausen, Germany (below), where the new test rig has been designed, tested and assembled. The company is looking to expand in international markets, too, and will this year attend the Automotive Testing Expos in China and the USA for the first time.
Poppe + Potthof is exhibiting on booth 1104 at Automotive Testing Expo 2015 Europe, which continues at Messe Stuttgart, Germany, until Thursday 18th June.
