German automotive test house, EDAG Engineering, has improved its large component test capabilities with a new V8 shaker and guided head expander by Brüel & Kjær.
The move comes after EDAG – a specialist in assessing the effects of vibration on large structures, such as car frames – revealed it has experienced increasing demand from its automotive suppliers for quicker tests, in order to speed up their own productivity.
According to EDAG, the Brüel & Kjær V8 high force shaker and guided head expander is large enough to bear various vehicle parts, thus enabling its engineers to test maximum displacement, velocity and force at the same time. The system also has an acoustic enclosure for its air-cooling system, which protects the engineer’s hearing, as it reduces the noise levels during tests.
