Visitors to the Materials Testing 2015 exhibition in Telford, UK, next week will be able to find out more about the Bloodhound SSC land-speed record attempt car at a free networking event.
The Bloodhound SSC show car will be on display throughout the exhibition, which runs from September 8-10, 2015, at the International Centre in Telford. The networking event takes place on the first evening and will feature a presentation on the progress of the project and the role that non-destructive testing and condition monitoring is playing. Entry is free of charge although visitors must register online in advance.
The Bloodhound SSC vehicle, which is currently under construction, aims to reach 1,000mph to set a new land-speed record in 2016. Recent progress on the project has included the inspection of the vehicle’s 1,000-liter high-test peroxide fuel tank, which was manufactured by Peterborough-based ABC Stainless.
NDT inspectors from Gammax Independent Inspection Services, based in Suffolk, UK, used 100% radiographic and 100% liquid penetrant inspection to test for internal and surface-breaking defects.
