Nidec Elesys, a developer of automotive inverters, onboard and offboard chargers, has opened a new R&D center in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria. President Rumen Radev attended the inauguration ceremony for the tech facility, which will contribute to the economic revitalization of the region.
The hub will enable Nidec Elesys to meet the increasing demand for its in-vehicle inverters and ECUs. It will also augment the company’s development ecosystem in Europe, following in the footsteps of the headquarters in Japan and the Utsunomiya Development Center. Alongside bread and butter R&D, the Sofia center will work with other Nidec Group companies that have already expanded into Europe to build an efficient supply chain.
There are 40 specialists based at the site, including experienced engineers and individuals who are fluent in English. Nidec plans to build the team to 100 in future.
