Strategic, environmental and engineering consulting company Ricardo has announced the official opening of its new hydrogen test facility based at the company’s headquarters in Shoreham-by-Sea, UK.
Ricardo has designed and built the facility to utilize and extend the company’s existing capabilities and knowledge of zero-emission mobility solutions. The hydrogen test facility will become part of Ricardo’s global center of excellence for hydrogen, fossilized fuels and electrified transport engineering.
With a range of equipment to cater for the testing and advanced development of alternative fuels and electric vehicles, the newly established facility will greatly increase the hydrogen and fuel cell services and solutions on offer to the company’s customers. At the site, Ricardo will be able to correlate simulation and modeling tools with the real world, to accelerate the efficient design of cleaner powertrain solutions. Furthermore, it will enable the company to test customized multistack systems which have been developed for optimal weight, cost and efficiency.
“I’m delighted at the opening of this new facility at our Shoreham Technical Centre,” commented Matt Beasley, president of established mobility, Ricardo. “It enables us to offer a one-stop shop for customers: from design and development right through to the testing and integration of alternative fuel technologies, such as hydrogen, to support future production planning. We’re already working with a range of customers on hydrogen and fuel cell technology, providing clean, efficient solutions which reduce carbon and emissions across several sectors.”
