A deceleration sled to conduct small overlap crash tests without destroying an entire vehicle has been developed by MESSRING.
The so-called M=SLED Small Overlap tests chassis components that could penetrate the passenger compartment, and it works with the MESSRING HydroBrake to simulate small overlap crashes on the left side of a vehicle.
The chassis has rolling ground speed of up to 64km/h, while an additional load-cell wall is shaped like a wheel housing and runs on the sled to measure the forces and deflection of components in the wheel housing.
The sled can be adapted to different chassis mounts and different vehicles loads can be simulated.
