Vehicle development service provider FEV has opened its chassis dynamometer emissions testing center in Alsdorf, Germany.
The facility at FEV’s site on Konrad-Zuse-Strasse enables emissions and range tests to be performed according to the latest legal standards. It houses a four-wheeled chassis dynamometer with advanced equipment for emissions and range testing in compliance with European, US, Chinese, Japanese and Indian legislation.
The measuring and testing equipment is designed for analysis of conventional powertrains as well as those for hybrid and electric vehicles.
The vehicle testing area covers 1,600m2 and can hold up to 64 vehicles in three different temperature zones ranging from -30C to +50C.
It is equipped with charging stations for hybrid and electric vehicles and is designed for optimum emissions testing procedures during real-world operations.
The center can be expanded to include an additional dynamometer and solar simulation system.
A planned expansion also includes a doubling of the parking lot by an additional 200 spaces for test vehicles with extra charging stations for hybrid and electric cars.
