UK proving ground and vehicle test and validation services provider Millbrook used Day 1 of Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2019 to announce its latest ADAS and CAV test capabilities. These include a new, secure test facility and equipment required for performing all Euro NCAP 2020 and a wide range of non-standard CAV and ADAS test scenarios.
The new facility offers a 1.1km-long (0.7-mile) three-lane highway and two-lane A-road test track layouts designed to Euro NCAP and ECE R130 specifications. It also has a junction marked out to the new Euro NCAP specification and 250m-radius (820ft) curves specified within ECE R79.03 for testing Automatically Commanded Steering Functions (ACSF).
Complementing the new test facility, Millbrook has the UKâs first independent small pilotable platform, LaunchPad, which is used to represent vulnerable road users (VRU) and powered two wheelers. Millbrook also has a guided vehicle target allowing V2V test scenarios, along with more complex scenarios involving a car and a VRU.
Peter Stoker, chief engineer Ââ connected and autonomous vehicles, Millbrook, said: âThe addition of this new equipment secures Millbrookâs position at the forefront of CAV and ADAS testing and development in the UK. We look forward to making further announcements in this area this year.â
